The shíshálh Nation Education and Employment Department is responsible for administering the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada Post-Secondary Studies Support Program. This program provides eligible post-secondary students with sponsorship for tuition, textbooks, supplies, travel, tutorial services and living allowance while attending college or university.
The Education and Employment Department also manages the Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services funding and services. Job Start supports things such as work gear, transportation costs and individual seat purchases for trades training programs, resume and cover letter writing assistance, interview preparation skills and community based programing related to achieving gainful employment.
Adult Education is funded through Own Source Revenue funding to assist Nation members with employment related training such as driver’s license training, work gear funding and business plan writing.
