Update: The location of the by-election on Saturday, February 3 has been moved to the Elders’ Boardroom in the CMS Building.

A By-Election for one (1) Councillor will be held pursuant to the shishalh Nation Constitution and the provisions of the shishalh Nation Election and Referendum Law dated April 15, 2019. Individuals who are on the shishalh Nation Voters’ list, and who are at least 18 years of age, by February 3, 2024, are entitled to vote for one (1) Councillor.

Voters may attend the Nomination Meeting on December 19, 2023, to nominate candidates for the election.

Advance Poll Date: January 28, 2024

Election Day: February 3, 2024

Time: 9 am to 8 pm

The Voters’ List will be posted in the shishalh Nation’s Administration Building on or before December 5, 2023.

If your name is not on, or appears incorrectly on, the Voters’ List you must, by no later than January 4, 2024, make an application to the Electoral Officer setting out the reasons why your name should be added to, or changed, on the Voters’ List and any documents supporting your application.

If you believe a person listed on the Voters’ List should not be included on the Voters’ List you must, by no later than December 25, 2023, make an application to the Electoral Officer setting out the reasons why the person’s name should be removed from the Voters’ List and any documents supporting your application.

Voters who are ordinarily resident on shishalh Nation lands and unable to vote in person due to disability on the date of the election, or voters who are not ordinarily resident on shishalh Nation lands, may vote by mail-in ballot if they deliver a completed Application for Remote Ballot to the Electoral Officer by no later than January 4, 2024. The application form can be obtained from the Electoral Officer.
