Housing Department

The shíshálh Housing Department oversees the rentals, construction, and repairs to housing in member subdivisions. The Sechelt Band Housing Authority was established in 1980 and trustees administer the program in accordance with policy and within a budget approved by the shíshálh council.

Housing Department staff implement the decisions of the trustees and manage daily operations including:

  • Documentation for housing applications
  • Allocations, repairs, appliance purchases, construction and renovation financing
  • Serving as a liaison between the trustees, council, inspectors, contractors, and Nation members

Affordable housing has been the focus of the department and the trustees who have been working with an outside firm to complete a housing plan to determine which type of housing is needed and required by Nation members.
