Suspect Arrested and Stolen Items Recovered Following Break-In at tems swiya Museum and tsain-ko Gift Shop

March 13, 2026 – chátlich (Sechelt), BC — shíshálh Nation is pleased to share a positive update following the recent break-in at the tems swiya Museum and the tsain-ko Gift Shop.

Through investigative work by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), a suspect has been identified and apprehended. Video footage from the site played an important role in helping authorities identify the individual involved.

All items that were taken from the tsain-ko Gift Shop have now been recovered and returned.

shíshálh Nation would like to thank the RCMP for their diligence and investigative efforts in resolving this matter and recovering the items so quickly. We also raise our hands to everyone who played a role in ensuring the safe return of these items.

“This is a good day,” said xwash, Steven Feschuk, shíshálh Nation’s Protector of Culture, “We are grateful for the work that went into recovering these items and returning them to where they belong.” shíshálh Nation’s hiwus (Chief), kwa’sah’lahuet, Warren Paull, adds “I would like to thank the RCMP for their all hands on deck approach to this issue and to come to such a speedy resolve is encouraging.”
