Sunshine Coast Water Security Project

Improved Water Security for the Sunshine Coast

The shíshálh Nation, in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) and Heidelberg Materials, is leading a transformative project to enhance water security on the Sunshine Coast. With a historic $117 million investment from the federal government, this initiative aims to upgrade the existing water treatment plant and construct two large-scale water storage reservoirs within the Chapman Creek watershed. These upgrades will provide a more reliable and sustainable water supply for approximately 76% of the Sunshine Coast population, addressing the severe water shortages exacerbated by climate change.
