Youth Council

Our Mission

The shíshálh Nation Youth Council (SNYC) exists to empower youth, aged 15 to 29, to become strong, confident leaders within the Nation by providing a unified voice on issues that impact youth today and future generations. Rooted in the values, teachings, and guidance of our Elders and leadership, the Youth Council supports youth in balancing traditional knowledge with modern leadership practices.

Through advocacy, collaboration, and community engagement, the SNYC works alongside Chief and Council to represent youth perspectives, strengthen cultural identity, and build leadership capacity. The goal is to inspire, educate, and uplift youth while fostering unity, responsibility, and a strong connection to community, culture, and Nationhood.

The shíshálh Nation Youth Council is committed to developing future leaders who will carry forward the legacy of our ancestors, contribute to Nation governance, and help shape a strong and sustainable future for generations to come.

Our Identity

The idea for this logo design is represented through four hands, symbolizing community, guidance, and coming together. The four directions are also reflected, representing Indigenous culture and our connection to the land and all that inhabit it. At the center, the eye represents insight and clarity that can be achieved through unity and teamwork.

Together, the design reflects the strength of shíshálh Nation youth, grounded in community, culture, and the recognition that each individual is part of one collective whole.
