shíshálh Nation Issues Notice of Election and Nomination Meeting

The shíshálh Nation hereby gives formal notice to its Members of an upcoming Election to select one (1) Chief and four (4) Councillors, in accordance with the shíshálh Nation Constitution and the shíshálh Nation Election and Referendum Law (2019).
Election Day
The Regular Poll will be held on:
Saturday, February 21, 2026
9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

An Advance Poll will take place on:
Sunday, February 15, 2026
2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Nomination Meeting
Members are advised that the Nomination Meeting to nominate candidates for Chief and Councillor positions will be held on:
Tuesday, January 6, 2026
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Eligible Voters may attend the Nomination Meeting and nominate candidates in accordance with the Election and Referendum Law. Candidates must be physically present at the Nomination Meeting to be eligible for nomination.
All-Candidates Meeting
An All-Candidates Meeting will be held on:
Tuesday, January 20, 2026
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Voter Eligibility and Voters List
Registered Members of the shíshálh Nation who are at least 18 years of age on Election Day are eligible to vote.
Members may review the Voters List online by clicking here.
Candidate Requirements and Deadlines
Individuals wishing to become candidates must meet all eligibility requirements set out in the Constitution and Election and Referendum Law, including submission of required documentation by the specified deadlines.

Candidate Package due by 4:00 p.m. on January 12, 2026

Criminal Record Check due by 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2026

Remote Voting
Voters who are not ordinarily resident on Sechelt Lands, or who are unable to vote in person due to disability, may vote electronically or by mail-in ballot by submitting a completed Application for Remote Ballot to the Electoral Officer no later than January 22, 2026.
